Frequently asked questions

Below are some Frequently asked questions about our rental services.

What happens if I don't return the vehicle on time?
If the vehicle is overdue and we are unable to contact you after multiple attempts (via email and phone), or you cannot provide a valid payment method, you will need to return the vehicle within 24 hours. If this deadline is not met, we will initiate the process of locating or repossessing the vehicle, and it could eventually be reported as stolen to law enforcement.
What happens if I am late for my vehicle pick-up?
If you're running late, we hold your reservation for up to 2 hours past your scheduled pick-up time. After this grace period, the reservation may be deemed expired, and we may not be able to guarantee vehicle availability. It’s always best to inform us if you're experiencing delays so we can assist in accommodating your needs based on the availability of vehicles at the time.
Can I extend my rental period, and what is the process?
Yes, you can extend your rental period, but it must be done with prior authorization. This involves electronically signing an updated rental agreement that reflects the extended dates. Without this signed authorization, we cannot extend the contract. Please note that if the vehicle becomes overdue and we cannot reach you for three days, the car must be returned within 24 hours. If not, the vehicle may be repossessed and potentially reported stolen.
What is the policy for cancelling prepaid reservations?
You can cancel your prepaid reservation, but the amount refunded depends on when the cancellation is made. Cancellations made more than 24 hours before pickup will incur a 30% fee, and cancellations made within 24 hours will incur a 50% fee. No refunds are given for cancellations after the scheduled pick-up time.
Can I modify a prepaid reservation, and how does it affect the rate?
Yes, you can modify a prepaid reservation up to 24 hours before the start of your rental, as long as the booking was made directly through our website. Keep in mind, however, that any changes to the reservation, such as adjusting the pick-up time or vehicle type, may affect the rate. If the modified reservation results in a lower cost, we do not provide a refund for the difference.
What is your cancellation policy for prepaid reservations?
If you cancel your prepaid reservation, the amount refunded will depend on when the cancellation is made: • Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the scheduled pick-up time will incur a 30% cancellation fee. The remaining 70% will be refunded. • If the cancellation occurs within 24 hours of the pick-up time, a 50% cancellation fee applies, and the other 50% will be refunded. No refunds are provided for cancellations made after the scheduled pick-up time.
Is purchasing Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) mandatory?
No, purchasing SLI is optional, but it offers valuable protection. SLI covers the renter against third-party claims for bodily injury or property damage that occur while driving the rental vehicle, with coverage up to $100,000 per accident. However, SLI does not cover all situations and has exclusions, including if an unauthorized or intoxicated driver is behind the wheel.
What are the age requirements for renting a vehicle?
The minimum age to rent a vehicle varies by location: it is 21 years old in New Jersey and 18 in New York. However, renters aged 18-20 are restricted to economy and compact cars. For larger or specialty vehicles, you must be at least 25 years old. Additionally, the maximum age to rent a vehicle is 80 years old.
Are there additional fees for underage drivers?
Yes, there are additional fees for younger drivers. Renters aged 18-20 incur a fee of $79.99 per day, while drivers aged 21-24 pay an additional fee of $25.00 per day. These fees help offset the higher risk associated with younger drivers.
What payment methods are accepted for car rentals?
We accept major credit and debit cards, including American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. All cards must be issued by a major financial institution. We do not accept cash, prepaid cards, checks, or cards that are for electronic use only. Debit cards are only accepted under specific conditions.
Is a deposit required when renting a vehicle?
Yes, we require an authorization deposit of up to $500 in addition to the rental cost. This serves as a security measure and ensures that we can cover any potential additional costs, such as damages or late returns. The deposit will be released after the vehicle is returned, but it may take some time for the funds to be available depending on your bank.
Can I use a debit card as a local renter?
Debit cards are not accepted for local renters at airport locations. However, at select downtown locations, debit cards may be accepted with two forms of government-issued ID and a recent utility bill that matches the address on the renter’s driver’s license. Local renters using debit cards may be restricted to certain vehicle types.
What does the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) cover?
The Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) reduces your liability in case of damage to the rental vehicle. However, it doesn’t cover all risks and is voided in certain situations, such as when the driver is intoxicated or violates the rental agreement. A police report is required for CDW to be valid in case of an accident.
Are there any restrictions on where I can drive the rental vehicle?
Yes, there are geographic restrictions. The vehicle may only be driven within certain states specified in your rental agreement. If you drive outside of the allowed zones, additional fees apply, and your CDW may be voided. If the vehicle enters prohibited zones, it may be repossessed, and the renter could be responsible for all costs involved.
What should I do if I experience a breakdown or need roadside assistance?
If you experience any issues while driving, our optional Roadside Assistance Protection provides 24/7 support. Services include towing, battery jump-starts, flat tire changes, and fuel delivery. The cost for any parts or materials, such as fuel or tires, is your responsibility. In case of severe mechanical issues, towing to the nearest service provider is also covered.
Can I rent a car if I have a foreign driver’s license?
Yes, international renters with a valid foreign driver’s license can rent a vehicle. However, if your license is printed in a non-Roman alphabet (such as Arabic, Chinese, or Japanese), you will need to provide an International Driving Permit along with your original license. You’ll also need to present a valid passport at the time of rental.
What are my refueling options when I return the vehicle?
You have a few refueling options: • You can prepay for a full tank of fuel at a competitive price and return the vehicle without refueling. • If you do not prepay, you can return the vehicle with the same level of fuel it had at pick-up. If you return it with less fuel, you will be charged for the fuel used at the rate specified in your rental agreement.
Can I add additional drivers to my rental?
Yes, you can add additional drivers to your rental, but an additional driver fee will apply. The additional driver must present a valid driver’s license at the time of rental. The fee is $9.99 per day, but in New York, it is $5.00 per day per additional driver.
What toll payment options are available with the rental vehicle?
You can choose between paying for tolls individually or opting for our Unlimited Toll Plan at $25.00 per day, which covers all tolls during your rental period. If you don’t prepay, you will be charged a daily service fee of $6.95 plus the toll costs. You can also use your own EZ-Pass transponder if preferred.
Can I use my personal EZ-Pass transponder in the rental vehicle?
Yes, you can use your own EZ-Pass or similar toll transponder in the rental vehicle. This allows you to avoid the daily toll service fee of $6.95. Please ensure your transponder is properly set up to avoid unnecessary charges.
What is the process for returning a vehicle after business hours?

What if my flight is delayed and I can’t pick up the vehicle on time?
